As the ultimate humble beast, Jesus is the Lion of Judah and also the Lamb of God. He humbled Himself to the cross to pay for all our sins.
Jesus said, “Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world.” John 17:24 NIV
He knew the purpose of His death on the Cross was so we could be reconciled to the Father. If you want to know what love is, contemplate on what Jesus did for us.
Jesus received 39 stripes because 40 was known to kill a man. In those days the Romans used whips with small pieces of metal or bone at the tips to inflict more pain. They struck him 39 times because they wanted him alive.
They yanked handfuls of His beard, and His hair was pulled it out by the roots. They wanted him to feel all the pain.
They kicked, punched, and spit on him for hours. (It makes me cry to think about Jesus not being able to wipe spit from His face because His Hands were nailed to the cross.) There was not a single spot on his body that wasn’t covered in blood. Jesus was unrecognizable and disfigured!
The Roman soldiers were skilled and merciless executioners. They shoved a crown of thorns down on Jesus head so harshly it stuck in his skin. They were careful not to kill him during His time of being beaten, mocked, whipped, flogged, and tortured. They wanted Jesus alive so He could carry a cross. A rugged piece of wood with splinters digging into fresh wounds. They wanted to publicly humiliate Him on the way to the crucifixion. They wanted him to feel every ounce of pain they could bring. Jesus had to feel it ALL in order to pay our admission into Heaven. He died so we can have a chance to have eternal life in Heaven.
Jesus also said, “And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.” John 12:32 NIV Jesus was lifted from the earth on the cross and later ascended into Heaven. Jesus now sits at the right Hand of the Father, praying that we draw near to him. Jesus went ahead of us to prepare a place for us. Heaven is a prepared place for prepared people.
Jesus was a Humble Beast for us - do you believe in Him??? Have you accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior? Have you established a personal relationship with Him after asking Him to forgive your sins?
Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again! Ask yourself: If I died today, would I go to Heaven?
