Fill er' Up!

November 28, 2020

Half a century ago, I was always hustling to make my life a little easier. I’m glad I never engaged in robbing anyone or selling drugs. Let me tell you about that

day, my blessing came by chance, gushing in. Was this by coincidence or God-incidence? Maybe it was just for such a time as this to increase our faith.

Here’s a flashback as written in Barrio Walk, Stepping into Wisdom: “By this time, I had my 1962 Chevy, and I was so proud of my red and white beauty. It once cost me an exorbitant amount of $6 to fill the gas tank. One of my best days back then was when I went to the gas station on the SE corner of 19th Avenue and Van Buren to a malfunctioning gas pump. The gas came out at normal speed while the amount indicator barely turned. I filled up my car for 37 cents. I quickly headed home and filled up my parents’ 1970 Le Mans for less than half a dollar. I tried to fill up my dad’s truck, but when I went back for the third time, there was an out of order sign on the gas pump.” Wow! This barrio blessing still shines brightly in my memory bank wearing a big Kool-Aide smile.

Fifty years later, TODAY, I’m still hustling, but now my hustle is to make life a little easier for others. My blessing comes from sharing my new Source of gas ... from writing about the Good News. I’m hurrying to fill as many tanks as I can before my time runs out. There may come a day when our churches get closed and our Bibles get confiscated. I hope the next few lines will flow like discounted gas to energize the root system of your heart and nourish your soul:

His promise in 1 John 1:9 states: “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”

o Make it easier for yourself TODAY by asking God to forgive what happened yesterday. Confess and let GOD do what HE wants to do - That is to cleanse our souls.

o Make it easier for yourself TOMORROW by fixing your eyes on Heaven. That is where our Friend lives, His Name is Jesus.

Once you get filled with His Everlasting Life, you will never have to fill up again. May the God of Hope fill you with all Joy and Peace as you trust in Him. Romans 15:13
