From the Beginning . . . to the End

“And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” Genesis 2:7

Every breath we take on earth is a blessing. Every day another page in the book of our earthly life. Live each day so your last chapter has a great ending. That way when you wake up on the other side, you take the first step of your Golden Walk on the Street of Gold.

Only God can make a heart start beating. Only God can change a stone heart filled with anger and selfishness into one full of the Love of Jesus. Only God exhales His Breath of Life into a newborn baby as the infant takes its first breath. Only God inhales (takes back) His Breath of Life when we take our last breath.

In the beginning at the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve lived in complete peace with God. Their world was perfect. Adam and Eve were given one instruction from God, “but of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, thou shall not eatest thereof though shall sure die.” Genesis 2:17 So when they disobeyed God and ate from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, they died spiritually and were banned from the Garden of Eden. This was the beginning of sin and as a result, we are born with this sinful nature. There was also another tree in the garden called the Tree of Life. If Adam and Eve had eaten from the tree of life, they would have lived forever. So, God placed Cherubim’s at the east of the Garden to keep Adam and Eve away from the Tree of Life (see Genesis 3-22-24) This was the end of their living in paradise.

But, “God so loved the world that He gave us His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life. “John 3:16 This is one of the most quoted scriptures in the Bible. It came from a conversation Jesus was having with Nicodemus. Jesus told Nicodemus that a man cannot see the Kingdom of God except when a man is born again.

Being born again in a new birth or regeneration is an act that only God can perform in which He renews the human heart. God acts at the origin and deepest point of the human person. This means there is no preparation nor a preceding temperament in a sinner that requests a new life given by God. This new birth is necessary because all descendants of Adam and Eve have inherited their sin and this sin keeps us separated from God. Regeneration is the free gift of God’s grace. It is immediate and supernatural through the work of the Holy Spirit. It awakens us from spiritual death to everlasting life. God has done His part by giving us His Son. It is our responsibility to become born again by faith in Jesus. The fruit of regeneration is faith. Regeneration comes before faith. And, without faith it is impossible to please God.

Do you believe in Jesus? Have you been born again? If yes, you will get to eat from the Tree of Life that is waiting for us in Heaven. This will be a great beginning to our eternal life. When we get to Heaven, we will get to see the throne of God and of the Lamb. Also, “In the midst of the street of it and on either side of the river, was there the Tree of Life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. Revelation 22:2

At some point in your life, you will make a choice for your eternity. “Stand at the crossroads and look; … ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls.” Jeremiah 6:16

God is the Alpha and the Omega . . . the beginning and the end. And . . . In the end – God wins.
